There has been increased awareness, recently, on the need for better infection control, particularly with regard to HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) , CJD (Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease) and hepatitis B, which increased the preference for disposable supplies in the OR that provide improved bacterial barriers.
