MedcoHealth Solutions Inc. reported earnings results for the fourth quarter and year ended December 29, 2007. For the quarter, the company reported net income of $207.6 million or $0.38 per diluted share on total net revenues of $11,378.4 million against the net income of $228.8 million or $0.39 per diluted share on total net revenues of $10,930.2 million for the same period last year. Net revenues increased as a result of higher mail-order volume associated with new clients and price inflation by pharmaceutical manufacturers on brand-name drugs, partially offset by a greater representation of lower-cost generic drugs, which resulted in a significant reduction of $600 million in net revenues compared to the fourth quarter of 2006.
