First DataBank Inc. announced that 6N Systems has licensed OrderView Med Knowledge Base(TM), a computerized physician order entry (CPOE)-ready drug database designed for medication ordering and prescribing. OrderView will be integrated into the eMAR (electronic medication administration record) piece of the 6N EMR(TM), an electronic medical record for long term care. 6N Systems will leverage OrderView medication content to simplify computerized physician order entry (CPOE) for long-term care organizations, and help to broaden adoption of a technology widely acknowledged to improve patient safety. CPOE systems are in use in many hospitals yet the introduction of these powerful technologies into the long-term care market is relatively new. As long-term care organizations prepare for CPOE they need to consider the importance of choosing drug content that's specifically formulated to streamline clinician workflow -- rather than complicating it -- to encourage physician adoption.
