Project Mango
Project Mango is a ~€500 million European wound care and surgical products company privately held by a Nordic private equity fund. The Company is the European leader in drapes and gowns with a new division in custom procedure trays. The Company experienced a failed integration of a recently acquired major US medial disposables company in June 2001 resulting in a limited US marketing channel. The Company also experienced similar challenges in US market access for the leading wound care product position in advanced wound care dressings. The surgical products and wound care divisions were serving different channels, but because of a management imposed synergy effort the divisions were unable to pursue independent corporate development paths. Healthios obtained new leadership from the Company's primary competitor, built a partnership with a $3 billion US products distributor, and secured €300 million of equity for a €900 million enterprise value transaction. During this process we crafted a new corporate strategy for accelerating conversion to single-use products in Europe and accessing US markets for surgical products and wound care lines. We established plans for procuring products from third parties rather than owned facilities, broadening product lines, and expanded market power of each division through complementary acquisitions.
