Throughout his professional career, Mr. Loucks has been active as an advisor, investor, and general manager across the global healthcare industry, in the process nurturing a unique perspective on the sources of success and the nature of value creation.
Healthios was founded in 2002 by Mr. Loucks. Prior to founding Healthios, from 1998 until 2001, Mr. Loucks served as President and CEO of Physician Dynamics, Inc. (“PDI”), a fully-integrated provider of patient education and disease management solutions for patients afflicted with chronic and acute diseases. Services comprising patient & family education, compliance management, utilization review, outcomes measurement, informed consent, and remote monitoring were sold to hospitals, health plans, and providers throughout the U.S. As of June 30, 2000, InLight employed approximately 175 people and recorded revenues of $14.7 million. In 2001, the disease management business of InLight was sold to Landacorp which, in turn, was acquired by SHPS, Inc.
In his capacities on behalf of InLight, Mr. Loucks: (i) designed the strategy, structure, organization and principal business direction of the Company; (ii) raised $39 million in venture capital financing; (iii) recruited a multi-functional management team composed of individuals with over 100 years of combined operating experience, including the former President of a Fortune 25 services concern with experience managing a $4 billion P&L; (iv) designed, developed and implemented central finance, control, treasury and tax systems comprising five operating units in 4 states; (v) orchestrated principal sales, marketing, and business development initiatives, yielding a compounded annual growth rate for revenues of 312% from 1999 to 2000; (vi) administered all merger and acquisition activities, comprising 6 transactions representing aggregate enterprise value of $137 million; (vii) completed five strategic partnerships with Fortune 100 companies, representing total economic value to the Company in excess of $60 million; (vii) developed and nurtured principal corporate and commercial banking relationships, including associations with securities analysts from bulge-bracket Wall Street firms; and, (ix) Completed preparation of S-1 Registration Statement with respect to the initial public offering of PDI common stock with syndicate of underwriters including Thomas Weisel Partners, SG Cowen, and William Blair & Company.
Prior to Physician Dynamics, from 1993 until 1998, Mr. Loucks was a Vice President with Robertson, Stephens & Company, an investment banking firm based in San Francisco. Among his duties at Robertson Stephens, Mr. Loucks was a founder of the Special Situations practice and he directed that firm’s first international financing initiatives for companies based in Europe, Israel, India, and China.
Schooled in Europe, and later a graduate of the Lawrenceville School, of Yale University, and of the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University, Mr. Loucks is multi-lingual and has spent more than 15 years living and working internationally.
Mr. Loucks is a member of the Board of Directors of Physician Dynamics Insurance Holdings, Inc., MedChannel, LLC, and the Kohl Children’s Museum of Greater Chicago. As an oarsman, Mr. Loucks is a former All-America and National Champion.
