AMICAS Struggled in 2007. The stock price of medical imaging software vendor AMICAS Inc. fell 5% in trading on Feb. 29 after the company reported lackluster performance for the fourth quarter and all of 2007. The Boston-based vendor had a fourth quarter net loss of $902,000, or 2 cents per share, compared with a $1.1 million loss during the same period a year ago. Investment analysts expected a 1-cent loss per share. Quarterly revenue rose less than 3% to $11.7 million; analysts expected about $13.35 million. For all of 2007, AMICAS had a net loss of $862,000, or 2 cents per share, compared with a loss of $1.3 million a year earlier. Analysts expected a 1-cent loss per share. Annual revenue rose 1% to $49.9 million; analysts expected $51.6 million. However, the company increased bookings by 20% in 2007 and continues to invest more than 21% of revenue in research and development and product enhancements, says Stephen Kahane, M.D., CEO and chair.
