Quaker BioVentures is a principal investment firm specializing in investments in all stages of development from early stage and development stage businesses to public companies. It seeks to invest across the spectrum of the life science industry including biopharmaceuticals, medical devices, human diagnostics, specialty pharmaceuticals, health information technology, and healthcare services. The firm also invests in companies with breakthrough technology, product and service, and solid intellectual property. It seeks to invest in companies headquartered in the East Coast, preferably in the Mid-Atlantic region between New York and North Carolina and will include opportunistic investments in the Southeast and contiguous areas. The firm typically invests between $5 million and $20 million in each company with initial investments ranging from $2.5 million to $10 million. It also invests in Series A financings through private investments in public entities. The firm prefers to lead or co-lead investments with active board involvement. Quaker BioVentures was founded by Ms. Brenda D. Gavin, Mr. Ira M. Lubert, Mr. P. Sherrill Neff, and Mr. Matthew Rieke in 2003 and is based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
