AlpInvest Partners N.V. is a private equity firm specializing in fund investments, secondary investments, co-investments, and mezzanine transactions. The firm invests in manufacturing, business and technology services, media and information, finance and insurance, retail, and healthcare sectors. It seeks to make fund investments across the spectrum of private equity market, including buyouts (growth, lower middle market, middle market, large, and later stage buyouts); venture capital; mezzanine; distressed securities; secondary; sustainable energy; and other specialty funds. The firm’s fund investment transactions include sale of limited partnership interests, spin out, stapled secondary/ primary, portfolio restructuring (securitizations and joint ventures), and secondary direct. It seeks to allocate between €10 million ($14.19 million) to €500 million ($709.68 million) per fund investment. For its fund investments, the firm invests in pension funds in Canada and Europe and also in European, United States, and Israeli funds. For its secondary transactions, it acquires and restructures portfolios of private equity assets ranging between €1 million ($1.42 million) and to over €1 billion ($1.42 billion). For its co-investments, the firm invests in leveraged buyouts and growth capital transactions in both the middle-market and large buyout segments of the market. It prefers to target technology and life sciences companies throughout Europe, North America, and Asia with transaction values ranging between €10 million($14.19 million) and €250 million ($354.83 million) in a single company. For later stage co-investments, the firm invests between €10 million ($11.9 million) and €100 million ($118.9 million), but has a preference for transactions between €20 million ($23.8 million) and €60 million ($71.4 million). It does not seek to lead transactions. The firm plays the co-investment role broadly from pure syndication to co-sponsor positions. It also engages in mezzanine transactions, including leveraged buyouts, recapitalizations, and growth financings with transaction value up to €100 million ($141.94 million) in a single transaction. The firm makes individual mezzanine investments between €20 million ($23.8 million) and €40 million ($47.6 million) and does mezzanine co-investments between €10 million ($11.9 million) and €25 million ($29.7 million). AlpInvest Partners N.V. was founded in 1999 and is based in Amsterdam, Netherlands with additional offices in New York, New York; Hong Kong, China; The Hague, Netherlands; and Antwerp, Belgium.
