ProRhythm, Inc. engages in the development and manufacture of medical devices for the treatment of Atrial Fibrillation (AF). It develops High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) applications to advance the minimally invasive treatment of complex medical conditions. ProRhythm's catheter-based system uses HIFU to treat AF in part by the electrical isolation of the pulmonary veins and ablation within the left atrium of the heart. Its products are currently used in Europe and the United States. The company was formerly known as Transurgical, Inc. and changed its name to ProRhythm, Inc. in 2004. ProRhythm, Inc. was founded in 1997 and is based in Ronkonkoma, New York. On December 11, 2007, ProRhythm, Inc filed a voluntary petition for reorganization under Chapter 11 in the US Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.
