SartoriusStedim Biotech and ProMetic Life Sciences Inc. announced the second successful technology transfer deal resulting from their collaboration entered into in 2006. The collaboration positions Sartorius Stedim Biotech as the preferred supplier and technology provider of filtration equipment and consumables to plasmafractionators that have in-licensed ProMetic's proprietary manufacturing process. As filtration and fluid management technologies are an integral aspect to the purification of biological products, Sartorius expects significant sales from this collaboration.

Siemens AG and Bilfinger Berger AG were awarded a €250 million ($395.5 million) contract for the construction and operation of a particle therapy centre in Kiel, northern Germany. The contract spans a period of 25 years. For the purpose of the project, Siemens Project Ventures and Bilfinger Berger Project Investments set up a company, which will be refinanced via an international group of banks. Each of the partners will contribute 50% of the required equity capital.
